Below we have listed some of our most frequently asked questions from our guests. If you have a specific question that is not listed please feel free to call us. We are here to help! 1-800-648-4874 or email us: info@hellgate.com

What should we bring on the trip?

What to wear:
During May and September, when the weather is cooler, we suggest you dress warmly or in layers. It is always cooler in the morning as well as on the return from the Dinner trip.

During the warmer months, June through mid-September, the typical attire is shorts, t-shirts and sports sandals. Bring along a bottle of water, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Be prepared to get wet and dress according to your comfort level. We suggest wearing clothes that dry quickly and perhaps steer away from denim pants or shorts and leather footwear.

If you have an extended car ride planned after a trip, consider bringing an extra set of clothes - just in case - to ensure a comfortable trip to your next destination.

Shoes and shirts are required on all trips. Bathing suits are not considered appropriate attire for the Hellgate River Lodge restaurant.

Sunglasses: Every year, hundreds of river users involuntarily sacrifice their sunglasses to the Rogue River. Wear eye wear retainers, especially on your prescriptions or newly acquired designer shades.

Hats: Don't leave home without one, but also don't leave it in the Rogue River. Hat retainers work....usually.

Identification, cash and credit card: Handy for jetboat pilot gratuity, Hellgate River Lodge gratuity, and required for beer and wine purchases at the Hellgate River Lodge or the river side restaurant on the White Water excursion.

Electronic Devices:
Many people bring cameras and binoculars, however, due to the nature of our trips, large amounts of water are possible. Therefore, Hellgate cannot be responsible for damage to any electronic equipment including cell phones and other water sensitive items such as hearing aids and electronic ignition keys. All items are brought at your own risk.

Food, Beverage and other:
Smoking and alcohol is prohibited in line, on the jetboats, on/at the loading dock. Alcohol may not be transported to the Hellgate River Lodge Restaurant.

Glass containers, coolers/ice chests, and water guns also prohibited as they create a safety hazard during spins. Leave it behind if you can:

• We suggest securing the following items in the trunk of your locked vehicle.
• Cell phones - Most people find that cellular reception on the river is limited.
• Camera equipment that cost more than a Prius.
• Concealed weapons. Please.
• Electronic key ignitions (bring a Valet key)
• Leather handbags/satchels

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?
It is best to call and book as soon as you have a date in mind. We generally sell out in July & August and on holiday weekends. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. For more information, contact info@hellgate.com or call 1-800-648-4874 or 541-479-7204.
How would you describe a Hellgate Jetboat Excursion ride?
Our trips are best described as part scenic, part amusement. All fully-narrated trips feature the fun and exciting power thrill maneuvers such as our famous 360's and bow dunks. Also during the trip, your fun and knowledgeable boat pilot will slow things down to inform you on geological and historical points of interest, point out indigenous wildlife and provide extraordinary photo opportunities. But hold on to your hats because he'll be back on the throttle again! All trips include the legendary Hellgate Canyon. Our trips are informative and exhilarating making them suitable for the entire family. Be prepared to take in the majestic scenery, learn a little about the Wild and Scenic Rogue River and get wet!

If your trip includes a stop at the Hellgate River Lodge, you'll be treated to an all you can eat country-style meal on an open-air deck with a view of the river. The Hellgate River Lodge is reserved for our jet boat guests only and the meal is included in the fare. Great value!
Our Cancelation Policy
Reservations require a 24 hour notice of cancellation. Any seats not canceled 24 hours prior to trip will be charged 50% of the fare. Group reservations with 15 or more people are subject to different policies please see our group page for details.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Cash, American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal checks and travelers checks gladly accepted. Please provide identification with your payment at check-in.
Can I reserve the front seat on the boat?
Sorry, reserved seating is not available. All seating is first come, first priority; however, this does not guarantee a choice in seats. For safety, we also restrict people with young children from sitting in the first several rows of the boat.
How do I make a reservation?
Book your reservation online or call us toll free at 1-800-648-4874. When calling, please be ready with your contact information, number of adults, number of children (ages 0-11) and number of infants along with a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card to book your reservation.
When is the Jetboat season?
Hellgate operates jetboat excursions May 1st - September 22nd depending on water levels. Our gift shop is open year round.
Are there any age restrictions for children?
No, there are no age restrictions and while we do not want to discourage you from bringing young children, the following tips are provided as a guideline:

• We do not recommend children under 3 years of age on our White Water excursion due to the length of the trip. Infants are not allowed on this trip.

• Dinner, Lunch and Brunch trips: bring your toddlers coloring book and crayons or other favorite diversions for use during meal service.

• If you would like your toddler to wear a life jacket on the boat then we suggest bringing your toddler's life jacket from home for fit, comfort and familiarity.

• If you choose to take your infant, car seats and carriers are not permitted on the boats. Infants must be held by an adult. We strongly suggest a front pack or wearable carrier.

• Please be aware that in the months of July and August temperatures are in the high 90's low 100's; conditions are not typically suitable for infants.

• Parents know their children best but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office. There are plenty of moms and dads here with personal experience to help you determine what will work for your little one.

Can you board our pets while we go on the jetboat?
Hellgate does not have pet facilities. However, we recommend contacting Home Away From Home Pet Spa (541)471-8775, website: www.petspa.com or Slate Creek Doggy Daycare, (541)476-7485 or email doggyday@uci.net
Can Seniors take part in the trip?
The jet boat ride, by its very nature, creates forces that may not be acceptable to some persons. Participants of jet boat excursions will be exposed to outdoor elements, forces from the jet boat spins, speeds and other intense features that may cause distress or injury to persons with pre-existing health conditions. Please consider these features when determining suitability for all passengers. Only guests in good health should participate in a jet boat excursion. For your safety do not ride if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, neck or back problems, recent surgery or any other medical condition that might be aggravated by the forces of this ride.

All guests, including those with disabilities or those who use a wheelchair must be able to transfer into and out of the boat by themselves or with the assistance of a member of their party.
Are life jackets required?
Life jackets are not mandatory on our Scenic, Dinner, Lunch or Brunch trips. We do provide life jackets at the boarding dock upon request and each boat is equipped with the appropriate number of emergency life vests. Life jackets are mandatory during a segment of the Whitewater Excursions. The emergency life vests are used for this segment.
Can I bring a wheelchair on the boat?
If a guest prefers to bring their own wheelchair to the Hellgate River Lodge, we can secure the folded chair to the boat railing during the trip. For the 2-hour Quick and Scenic trip, we suggest leaving the chair at the boat docks to await their return.

Powered wheelchairs may not go on the boats due to the weight and water conditions; however, we may be able to lend one of our wheelchairs based upon availability and store the powered chair in our office for safe keeping.

All guests, including those with disabilities or those who use a wheelchair must be able to transfer into and out of the boat by themselves or with the assistance of a member or their party.

For safety reasons, passengers may not sit in a wheelchair while the boat is moving.

The Hellgate office, loading docks and the Hellgate River Lodge facility are wheelchair accessible.
Do I need identification at the Hellgate River Lodge?
Yes. Oregon Liquor Control Commission (O.L.C.C.) requires all persons 26 and under to show ID at the restaurant prior to consuming alcohol.
How does seating work?
All seating is managed by specially trained Hellgate staff. Our top priority is guaranteeing a seat for all passengers, keeping families and parties seated together and maintaining appropriate passenger capacity. Safety is # 1, therefore, very small children are prohibited from the first two rows and side seats. We reserve the right to designate seating for any reason.
How early should we arrive to check-in?
We ask that all passengers check in 15 minutes prior to a trip. This allows us time to check our guests in and direct them to their designated loading dock. Please be advised that some trips include up to 6 boats which takes 30 minutes to load. For example, on the 4:15 Dinner Excursion **, we will start loading right at 4:15 and finish loading the last boat by 4:45.

Some guests like to arrive early anticipating a good seat. Please be advised that this could result in a long wait in line when you factor in the amount of time it takes to load all vessels. On very hot days we do not encourage arriving too early.
